Sally Potter takes audiences on a painful journey into the mind of a man coping with what looks like dementia in this therapeutic (for her) art film. It's generous of Potter to picture him traveling down these roads not taken, interwoven into his waking reality. The Roads Not Taken is emotionally raw and a very personal film. Empathy goes a long way with Sally Potter's film and scenarios that I can relate too. There are very intimate and truthful moments brilliantly performed by Bardem and Fanning. The intensity of Potter's framing unfolds but the narrative doesn't.
